If you are a liberal, the rich are evil, with the exception of yourself and all your rich friends. Most of these rich, elitist, Hollywood liberals watch the fires from their second or third home usually located in New York City or a villa in the mountains of Utah or Colorado.

Democrats rushed to any microphone or television camera they could find to try and compare the California fires to Hurricane Katrina. The far leftists, who now own the Democratic Party, came right out and blamed President Bush for the fires much as they blamed him for a hurricane. While leftists have not accused President Bush of being an arsonist, they blame him for not doing enough to stop the evils of "global warming." Of course, these same liberals did not blame Bill Clinton for the same fires that occurred virtually every year of his presidency.

Most Democrats backed away from the accusations as those accusations were disproved almost instantly. Helicopters and planes had been dispatched to assist but could not fly because of the high winds. Seventeen thousand California National Guard members were standing by, waiting to be called upon to assist, but were told they were not needed. What "equipment in Iraq" that could possibly be used to put out fired remains a mystery, unless a tank or an armored humvee are considered the first choice of firefighters these days. Can an Apache helicopter be outfitted to dump water? Does Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) know something about military armor the rest of us don’t know?

Neighboring states offered assistance, but were also told that there were enough bodies on the ground to deal with the situation. Senator Barbara Boxer of California only showed her ignorance when she blamed the Iraq War for the California fires. There are more than enough California National Guard in California.

Senator Henry Reid (D-Nev.) blamed the fires on "global warming" in a speech from the floor of the Senate. Less than 30 minutes later, he was denying his own statement. It seems his leash is very short and it got pulled very hard, very quickly. Arsonists, a broken electrical wire, high winds, and causes unknown caused the fires, not global warming. In fact, the mean temperature has only risen 0.7 degrees. This small increase is hardly enough to make trees spontaneously combust from the heat. The winds that whip the fires are an annual event.

If liberal California would maintain its forests in a reasonable manner instead of allowing the environmentalists to dictate policy, perhaps the first sign of fall wouldn’t be a huge smoke cloud over California visible from space. In the Midwest, the first sign of fall is the geese flying south. Hopefully, none are heading to California.

The smoke from the California fires is covering a lot more liberal gaffs then just claiming the Iraq War or global warming is the cause of all the fires.

Lost under smoke screen is the fact that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, (D-Calif.) quietly stopped beating the "Let’s condemn Turkey" drum. It is unlikely that Pelosi cares one wit about the 1.5 million long-dead Armenians. What she did care about was alienating an ally and stopping approximately 70% of our military’s supplies from reaching our troops in wartime, effectively, in her liberal mind, forcing the president to pull the troops out of Iraq. This would have put our soldiers and Marines at risk. Oddly, Americans for the most part, saw no good to be gained from this after all this time. Several past Secretaries of State, from both parties, condemned the idea. It was a huge blunder and it has been one in a long string of blunders for Pelosi.

Also disappearing from all but conservative media outlets is the newest Clinton-China connection. Babies in diapers, dishwashers who don’t speak English, and amazing invisible Chinese tenants were apparently falling all over themselves to give Hillary Clinton campaign money. The Clintons have a long history of Chinese supporters. Most have received their money right from the leaders in the Communist Chinese Army.

Of course, even California burning has not stopped the liberals from claiming that the evil, heartless Republicans "don’t care about children." When all else fails, call central casting for a few darling little kids with big eyes and pleading expressions on their faces. What Americans need to realize is that if this hair-brained scheme to give "free health care" to "poor children" of the leftists actually passes, the taxpayer will be paying for the healthcare of 25-year olds, theoretically four years out of college, who apparently are still loafing around their parents homes instead of working and paying for their own health insurance. Just to add insult to the taxpayer injury, that family can make upwards to $70,000 a year. What is striking about this number is that for tax purposes, an income that high is considered "rich" by leftists, but when liberals/socialists want to pass socialized medicine, it suddenly becomes "poor" and a "child" can be 25 years old. Welcome to liberal logic or lack thereof.

As the poll numbers for congressional approval drop to 11% to 25%, depending on the poll, Pelosi, who made a pledge just ten months ago to make Congress put in a full work week, has decided that members of Congress need to "mingle more" with their constituents. Citing the great accomplishments of the House of Representatives since the Democrats took control a mere ten months ago, Pelosi feels there is no need to work full-time any longer. Renaming post offices has just exhausted the Democratic House members.

As Hillary promises the sun and moon to anyone she thinks will listen on the campaign trail, Rep. Charles Rangel, (D-N.Y.) is pledging to sock it to the evil rich, who in turn will be laying off workers, stopping worker bonuses, or closing their doors all together and moving overseas because of the crushing tax burdens.

Using liberal logic, taking money from anyone the leftists feel is "rich" is perfectly legal and acceptable. It’s called "redistribution of wealth." It is also called socialism. If that is the case, it should not be illegal to shoplift goods from Wal-mart or Sears or Home Depot. After all, these business are very successful and wealthy. The goods in these establishments should be "redistributed" to those with less. Oddly, the law seems to call shoplifting a crime. What the Democratic Party wants to do to Americans is no different. Any way you look at it, stealing is stealing. Rangel and Hillary and the rest of them want to take the hard earned dollars of Americans and buy votes with them. It is class warfare at its lowest.

The smoke over California will be blown away, as it always has, but the smoke the liberals are blowing will have long-lasting implications for the average American. Any American who foolishly believes that the socialist-driven "tax increases for the rich" will not affect them, is making a tragic mistake. Any American with a job will have more money stolen by the government from his paycheck. There will no comfort in knowing that money is going to provide "free health-care" to his neighbor’s 24-year old, perfectly healthy but lazy "child."
